Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong launches satellite communications service

Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong (0215) will launch its satellite communications service on July 11.

It starts from a monthly fee of HK$19, including a 2-minute satellite phone call service on a 24-month contract.

As for the most expensive package, the monthly fee came in at HK$1,500, including 300 minutes of satellite calls and 100 SMS messages on a 12-month contract.

The pre-registration has begun on July 1. Compatible handsets or mobile devices are required to deploy the service, the company said.

Users can stay connected via satellite communications even in remote areas, whether deep in the mountains or on the sea, it added.

To meet the growing need of Hongkongers heading north for spending, HTHK also launched a new 5G data roaming plan, starting from a monthly fee of HK$158, for free mix-and-match of 30GB data usage in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Macau at no extra charge.
