Lawson to lease parking spaces for car camping

Lawson, a Japanese convenience store chain, will launch a new service allowing visitors to rent its parking lots for overnight car camping.

The company plans to start leasing parking lots to vehicles starting next Monday (Jul 14) at a fee of between 2,500 and 3,000 yen per night.

Parking will be available from 6 pm to 9 am on the following day, according to the Japanese media reports. Reservations will be available in advance.

Six stores in Chiba Prefecture, including one in Minamiboso and Kamogawa cities, will participate in the pilot launch.

Those who rent the parking space will have access to the convenience store's washrooms. They will also be able to put a certain amount of food waste in a special garbage bag that the store will assist in disposing of.
