Swimming coach throws girl into pool in Nanjing, causing broken ear cartilage

A swimming coach in Nanjing, Jiangsu province has been accused of throwing a young female student into a pool, causing her to suffer broken ear cartilage. The swimming school involved has admitted the incident occurred.

According to The Beijing News, a parent reported on Sunday that her daughter was body-slammed into the pool by a coach during swimming lessons. The parent said the incident happened on September 21, with CCTV footage showing the coach first pushing the girl into the water, then picking her up and throwing her in again after she got out.

Staff at the swimming club acknowledged the incident, stating: "This didn't happen during class time. After so many lessons, the coach and the girl were quite familiar with each other and were playing around. She did indeed get several stitches, and all medical expenses were covered by us. The coach is currently still at his post."

Jinyun News reported the girl's mother said: "The venue has not made any statement yet, dealing with it in a dragging and perfunctory manner, and won't refund the course fees. According to my last communication with the venue, they've shifted all responsibility onto the coach."
