The Yellow River is expected to experience its first flood of the year, prompting the Ministry of Water Resources to initiate a Level IV emergency response for Shanxi, Henan, and Shaanxi provinces last night.
Due to recent rainfall, tributaries of the middle reaches of the Yellow River—the Fen River and Wei River—have already exceeded warning levels. The Tongguan Hydrological Station reached its warning flow rate early this morning. A flood peak with a flow rate of approximately 6,000 cubic meters per second is forecast for the middle of this week.
The Ministry of Water Resources has dispatched three working groups to the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River to guide flood prevention efforts. Local water resources departments and river basin management agencies have been instructed to strengthen emergency duty, closely monitor weather changes, implement precise scheduling of water projects for flood control, and enhance levee patrols and defense.
