Three individuals are currently in police custody in connection with the abduction and murder of Filipino-Chinese steel businessman Anson Que and his driver, as confirmed by the Philippine National Police.
The first two suspects Richardo Austria David -- also known as Richard Tan Garcia -- and Raymart Catequista were both Filipino nationals and apprehended by the police's Anti-Kidnapping Group in Roxas, Palawan, on Friday morning.
The third suspect, a Chinese national identified as David Tan Liao -- also recognized as Xiao Chang Jiang, Yang Jianmin, and Michael Agad Yung -- surrendered himself to authorities on Saturday morning.
Law enforcement officials have indicated that two additional Chinese nationals associated with the case remain at large.
Anson Que, the Chief Executive Officer of Elison Steel, and his driver, Armanie Pabillo, were last observed alive after departing from their office in Valenzuela City on the afternoon of March 29.
According to the investigation, both Que and Pabillo arrived at a residence located at 345 Martha Street in Villacor Village, Barangay Langka, Meycauayan, Bulacan on the same day. It was the location that the suspects restrained Que and Pabillo, police added.
Reports indicate that Que was initially invited by a Chinese woman for a meeting scheduled on March 28, which was subsequently postponed to the following day for unspecified reasons.
On March 30, Que's family received a communication demanding a ransom of 200 million Philippine pesos, to be paid in an unspecified cryptocurrency, equating to approximately US$20 million (around HK$156 million).
Tragically, police revealed that both Que and his driver were ultimately killed on April 8, with their bodies recovered in Barangay Macabud in Rodriguez, Rizal, the following day.
