The son-in-law of Hong Kong's last governor Chris Patten faces a jail term for acting as a getaway driver in a shooting at an Indian restaurant in west London.
Elton Charles, 51 — married to the Patten's daughter Laura — was convicted of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on Wednesday after a five-week trial at Kingston Crown Court.
Charles took part in a plot, hatched by his 48-year-old half-brother Nathaniel St Aimie, to terrorize bosses of a curry house in Greenford on the evening of September 6 last year.
St Aimie earlier admitted conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
CCTV shows a hooded gunman getting out of a white van before firing a single cartridge into the window. Charles was the getaway driver in the shooting.
It was "good fortune" that none of the diners were hurt as a shotgun blast shattered a window at the restaurant, the court heard.
Charles, St Aimie, along with Nicholas Grant, 46, and Lee Morgan, 42, who allegedly supplied the weapon, will be sentenced on September 15.
