The MTR Corporation achieved a historic milestone at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva by winning 15 prestigious awards.
The remarkable achievement included three "Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury," four gold medals, seven silver medals, and one bronze medal.
MTR's award-winning projects focused on four key themes, including "AI and Deep Learning," "Smart Mobility Solutions," "Smart Operations and Maintenance," and "Green and Inclusive Innovations."
The Metro Maestro, a smart mobility solution, was one of three projects that brought the group a "Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury." It leveraged machine learning and big data analytics to reveal ridership patterns, predict passenger flow and assist crowd management.
The "Hypersonic Acoustic and Vibration Fusion Sensor" as well as the "Automatic Tunnel Inspections System" projects were also awarded the Gold Medal With Congratulations of the Jury.
In addition, SparkVision -- an advanced arc detection system that used AI to monitor video footage of overhead power lines during train operations -- has won the gold medal at the event. By identifying sparks caused by faulty connections, SparkVision successfully enhanced train safety.
NoiseRadar -- a portable device designed to detect incoming noise, offer maintenance insights, and ensure tranquility for nearby communities -- is one of the eight projects awarded the silver medal.
Upon such remarkable success, the MTR Corporation pledges to continue leveraging innovation technology and AI to enhance customer services, quality operations, and maintenance efficiency.
The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva is one of the world's biggest platforms to showcase innovations and inventions, attracting over 40 participating countries and regions. This year's exhibition featured over a thousand inventions, including 300 from Hong Kong.
