China requests WTO consultation on new US tariffs

China said on Friday it had requested consultations at the World Trade Organization on the United States' introduction of a new round of tariffs.

"China has filed the WTO complaint with respect to the United States' measures," said the Permanent Mission of China to the World Trade Organization in a statement on Friday.

The new tariffs were a blatant violation of WTO rules, it added.
