(Video) Police inspector dies saving lives as swing ride collapses in India

A swing ride collapsed in Faridabad, India on Sunday, killing a police inspector and injuring at least 13 visitors in what witnesses described as a scene of chaos and terror.

Witnesses reported that the swing snapped mid-air while in operation.

Jagdish Prasad, a 58-year-old police inspector, died while attempting to rescue people trapped in the malfunctioning ride.

As the ride broke from one side, Prasad rushed to help those trapped. The structure then collapsed, falling on the victims below. Prasad sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the mechanical failure is underway, with officials examining whether safety protocols were properly followed at the popular annual fair.
