Toure received what he believed was a career breakthrough opportunity but the invitation was actually a trap set by a criminal organization. After traveling abroad, he was kidnapped and held illegally in Ghana, where kidnappers demanded a substantial ransom from his family.
Coming from a poor family unable to raise the required funds, negotiations broke down and the kidnappers executed Toure on October 18. The incident has shocked Senegal and the wider African sports community, highlighting the ongoing issue of young athletes being targeted by fake scout scams.
Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death, stating the government has launched a top-priority investigation in coordination with Ghanaian police to track the criminal group involved. A spokesperson expressed "deep sorrow for losing a promising young son of the nation" and offered condolences to the family.

Toure had been playing for Yeumbeul's Esprit Foot Academy, where he was considered one of the most promising young forwards. The academy described him as "technically complete, hardworking, and one of the team's most trusted players," mourning the loss of "a hopeful child and a star that could have illuminated African football's future."
The tragedy has prompted Senegalese authorities to warn young athletes and parents to verify overseas trial invitations through official channels and avoid trusting unverified offers.
