Britain's Prince Harry is pursuing reconciliation with the royal family following his recent court loss regarding his security arrangements and rumors of a marriage crisis with Meghan.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Harry made a U-turn regarding his strained relationship with the family, emphasizing "there's no point continuing to fight anymore."
The Duke of Sussex stated that he has always considered family an essential part of his life and "would love reconciliation with my family" if given the opportunity.
Harry said his father, King Charles III, won't speak to him because of "security stuff" but he did not want to fight anymore and did "not know how much longer my father has."
He also hinted at a desire to mend family rifts for the sake of his children, revealing that he has made repeated but unreciprocated attempts to communicate with relatives.
The royal family has yet to respond, as Buckingham Palace maintains its longstanding policy of "not commenting on private affairs."
Major UK outlets suggest that Harry's sudden conciliatory overture appears to be a strategic campaign aimed at regaining access to royal privileges and resources after losing a legal challenge over his security in the UK.
Harry lost his appeal against the ruling, dismissing his challenge to the level of publicly funded police protection he receives in the country, which was reduced in 2020 after he stopped being a working royal.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Harry and his wife Meghan are experiencing growing distance, despite the couple not publicly addressing rumors about their marriage.
Speculation intensified when Meghan did not join Harry during his trip to the UK to visit King Charles III, marking a notable exception to their usual practice of traveling together.
Paul Burrell, former servant of the British Royal Household and later butler to Diana, Princess of Wales, believes Meghan would not divorce until she has secured enough value from the marriage.
He emphasized that Meghan's title from the royal family, media exposure across the UK and the United States, and her charitable network constitute critical assets for her career, which would significantly depreciate after a divorce.
Analysis also suggests that Harry has sacrificed his royal status, military honors, and family ties for his wife, and he is now attempting to reclaim the lost.
It added that financial pressures could become a pivotal issue if a divorce occurs, particularly given the termination or underperformance of several lucrative deals, which have slashed the couple's income.
The analysis concluded that reconciliation with the royal family may serve as Harry's only path forward, as he faces the potential loss of both his marriage and financial stability.
Netizens have criticized Harry's contradictory stance and accused him of "hypocrisy", while a media survey reveals that 64 percent of respondents side with his father, while only 36 percent support Harry.
Around 67 percent advocate formally stripping the Sussexes of their "His or Her Royal Highness" titles, the survey showed.
