Newly unredacted US Department of Justice documents on the Jeffrey Epstein case have revealed disturbing new details, including a photograph described as "chilling" and confirmation that the youngest victim was only nine years old.
The released image shows Epstein and two other men sitting calmly at a table operating a laptop. Underneath the table, a woman in a bikini is crawling on the floor. A painting of a nude infant hangs on the wall behind them. The woman's body and the infant's genital area in the painting were pixelated before release. The photo's origin and location are unclear, though Epstein's pants bear the initials "LSJ," possibly referring to his private island, Little Saint James.
Multiple US congressmen reviewing the files disclosed that victims were younger than previously known. House Judiciary Committee ranking Democrat Jamie Raskin said records mention victims aged 15, 14, 10, and shockingly, a nine-year-old girl, calling it "absurd."
Republican Representative Thomas Massie noted the files reference a "senior foreign government official" possibly linked to Epstein's circle. He also observed at least six men's names in previously redacted sections, saying their inclusion is highly suggestive, and called for the Justice Department to hold them accountable. Massie indicated he might publicly name them in Congress under speech immunity if the department does not act.
The release follows criticism from Massie and Democratic Representative Ro Khanna that the Justice Department inappropriately redacted potential co-conspirators' names. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated all non-victim name redactions in those files have been removed, emphasizing a commitment to transparency while protecting victims' privacy.
For years, Democrats have questioned whether the Justice Department has been overly conservative in the Epstein probe, potentially leaving accomplices or enablers uninvestigated.
