Kravtsova, who had originally traveled for modeling work in Bangkok, was forced into romance scams upon arrival in Yangon on September 20. According to reports from The Voice Mag and other international media, she was compelled to pose as a female netizen on dating platforms to lure foreign men into investment scams.
After refusing to cooperate and failing to meet performance targets, Kravtsova was sold to an organ trafficking group in early October and killed. Her body was subsequently cremated. Scammers then contacted her family, demanding US$500,000 for the return of her ashes.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the incident and is assisting the family through diplomatic channels. Kravtsova's mother has reportedly negotiated with the scammers, who agreed to return the ashes without payment. She plans to travel to Myanmar to handle the remains.
A 2023 UN report estimates approximately 120,000 human trafficking victims are currently held in Myanmar, primarily from Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, with some from Russia and Eastern European countries, forced to work in scam compounds as modern slaves.
