A Peruvian bishop has resigned following allegations of maintaining relationships with 17 secret lovers, reportedly exposed after he accidentally sent intimate content to his cleaning lady.
Ciro Quispe López, 51, bishop of Juli, resigned his position after a Vatican investigation revealed multiple affairs. According to journalist Paola Ugaz, the situation escalated when mistresses discovered each other, with one nun allegedly sending information about the bishop's affairs to another lover, leading to physical confrontations.
The cleaning lady reportedly filed a complaint with the Catholic Church after receiving photos and videos intended for the mistresses. The Vatican examined voice notes, photos and videos López sent to the women.

López denies the allegations, calling them a defamation campaign by "dark hands." He was also under investigation for allegedly embezzling church funds, including removing chairs from church property for use in a chicken restaurant chain he financially benefited from.
The Vatican accepted his resignation last month, more than 20 years before the standard bishop retirement age of 75.
