A 35-year-old former beauty queen was abducted, bound, and weighted with rocks before being dumped in the sea in what Philippine investigators believe was a premeditated murder. Acquene Arradaza, once crowned Miss Matag-ob, was forcibly taken by three armed men from a grocery store in Ormoc City on July 31.

Her body was discovered five days later on August 4 by local fishermen off the coast of Barangay 99 Diit, already in a decomposed state. Police Major Shenna Layog, acting commander of Tacloban City Police Station 2, confirmed the victim was found "naked, gagged, and blindfolded with hands and feet bound, and a bicycle lock secured around her neck."

Surveillance footage captured the moment a black Toyota Wigo pulled over as three men stormed out and forced the model into the vehicle. The suspects fled toward Kananga, Leyte, with the same vehicle later spotted heading to Tacloban City.
Police criticized the family for delaying the missing person report until August 4, the same day the body was found. "We could have intercepted the suspects' vehicle at city or municipal borders if they filed a report earlier," said Ormoc City police spokesman Lieutenant Nova Tan.
The victim's identity was confirmed through distinctive back tattoos. Her mother Vilma Arradaza is now campaigning for justice, while police investigate possible motives in what appears to be a targeted attack. The case bears tragic familiarity as Arradaza's brother was killed in a police drug operation last year.
