The Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School (CAPCL), founded in 1992, is the first international school set up by The Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance (KTAC).
The school strives to cultivate a Christ-centered, learners-focused and socially-conscious community in which learning and teaching are relational, rigorous and relevant.
In 2017, the CAPCL campus in Kowloon City was closed down for large-scale renovation, and the school is now set to re-open as an international primary school in this August to serve approximately 550 preparatory to grade 6 students.
CAPCL adopts the Canadian-Alberta curriculum, and the medium of instruction is approximately 65% English and 35% Chinese. Upholding the bilingual approach, the school provides ample opportunities for students to accelerate their proficiency in English and Chinese.
In addition to Chinese lessons, students will study mathematics and one of the specialty subjects (art, Bible, health, music and physical education) using Mandarin.
Integral to the school’s education philosophy are the 4Hs – Heart, Habits, Head, and Hands. When brought together, the four elements make up a quality holistic education. Dr Cora Hui, Head of CAPCL, underscores the importance of fostering proactive behavior in students for positive growth.
“We build on the solid foundation of ‘heart-work’ (Heart) with healthy and godly habits (Habits), providing learners with opportunities to apply what they learn (Head) into services (Hands) within the school community and in our neighborhood,” she says.
