 Macao embraces December with captivating light displays, dazzling winter wonderlands, colorful Christmas markets and more! Come and soak up the festive ambience with a touch of Portuguese and Chinese culture in Macao, the world centre of tourism and leisure.

Marvel at light and art installations at Light up Macao 2025

“Light up Macao 2025” assembles 28 creative illuminations by teams from Macao, Chinese mainland, Portugal, Korea, Australia and the United States under the theme “Lightscape•Horizon”. Taking place across three districts (Nam Van District, Northern District and ZAPE District) at 6 pm to 10 pm from 6 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, this extravaganza also features a carnival of culinary delights, cultural and game booths from Fridays to Sundays near the Macao Grand Prix Museum in ZAPE District. Free shuttle buses are available from 5 pm to 10 pm on Fridays to Sundays and on designated festive days.

See if you can catch the amazing 6-minute 3D mapping show which is projected on the façade of the Macao Grand Prix Museum every 15 minutes from 6 pm to 10 pm every night, or join flash activities and workshops. Don’t forget to check-in on social media to collect “starlight” to redeem gifts, and play online games to win prizes.

Journey into a starry fantasy at 2025 Luminescent Night at Travessa do Armazém Velho

From 6 December 2025 to 5 March 2026, the historic streets and alleys in the area around Rua dos Ervanários turn into a star-themed fantasy of light! It’s a super-fun, immersive, luminous, interactive experience – all you have to do is to reach out and touch – and the starlight will flow with your movements! The whole street is picture-perfect for you to take beautiful memories with your family and friends. You can also join online games and offline workshops to learn about the charm of the old streets at night.

Watch the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (Macao)

Held once every four years, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games is China’s highest level multi-sport event for persons with disabilities and persons with intellectual disabilities. The games are held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from 8 to 15 December. Macao will be hosting badminton competitions at Macau East Asian Games Dome and Macao Forum.
