In the wake of Super Typhoon Ragasa, the lobby of the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel was flooded by crashing waves. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred around 6am at the hotel on Ocean Drive, a low-lying coastal area of Aberdeen.
The viral footage captured the moment when massive waves breached the hotel's sandbags and protective barriers, sending torrents of seawater smashing through the glass doors and surging into the lobby, sweeping guests off their feet.
The approximately 40-second clip shows onlookers reacting in shock as the water rushes in.
Notably, an individual was knocked down by the force of the water, reaching for a panda-themed cardboard display for support, but was ultimately helped up by others nearby.
Meanwhile, shouts of "Run! Run!" can be heard in the background.
According to Sing Tao Daily, the sister publication of The Standard, the entrance was left in disarray with floor tiles torn up with the ground covered in sand and mud. Cleaning staff were also seen working to clear the debris.
In response to inquiries, the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel emphasized the safety of its guests and employees as their top priority, confirming that no guests or employees were injured during the storm.
They added that they have increased staffing to fully address the impact of the super typhoon and ensure guests can safely and comfortably weather the storm.
