QS ranks HK 17th best city to study abroad, leaping 5 positions

The UK-based higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released the latest ranking of cities for studying abroad. Hong Kong rose five places to 17th from 22nd last year. Seoul surpassed Tokyo and London to top the list.

This year’s ranking of the best cities to study abroad covers 150 cities around the world. Rank is given based on six indicators: university rankings, student diversity, city desirability, employer activity, affordability, and student feedback. 

Hong Kong achieved an overall score of 88.3, re-entering the global top 20 and ranking 7th in Asia. 

Beijing’s ranking rose by 18 places to 13th, followed closely by Taipei, while Shanghai ranked 27th.
