3 Essential Tips for Enjoying the Rugby Sevens & Dining Cove Carnival
Top Spots for Dining, Fun, and Shopping Nearby
Kai Tak Sports Park is currently hosting the thrilling Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament, while the Kai Tak Dining Cove Carnival inside the park brings together popular local and international cuisine, along with live performances by local and foreign bands. Sing Tao Probe has compiled three key tips for visitors—covering transportation, entry and exit strategies, and nearby attractions—to help the public fully enjoy the "eat, play, shop" experience.
1. Getting There: Public Transport is Best
The Hong Kong Sevens runs for three days at the Kai Tak Main Stadium, with an estimated 138,000 spectators expected. Due to heavy crowds, taking public transport is highly recommended. The closest MTR stations are Sung Wong Toi Station (Exit D) and Kai Tak Station (Exit D), both about a 10-12 minute walk to the main stadium.
For those heading to the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground, Sung Wong Toi Station (Exit D) is the fastest route (just 5 minutes), while Kai Tak Station takes about 13 minutes. Multiple bus routes also stop near the sports park, including Regal Oriental Hotel and The Latitude bus stops.
Drivers and taxi riders, take note: During major events, drop-off zones for taxis and private cars near the main stadium may be closed, and parking could be suspended. Taxi passengers will need to use the drop-off area on Sung Wong Toi Road, while drivers may have to park in Kowloon City or To Kwa Wan, followed by a 20-minute walk to the venues.
2. Travel Light for Faster Entry
To speed up security checks, travel light. Our test showed that entering via the express lane takes just 5 seconds, while those with bags may wait about 45 seconds. Prohibited items or large luggage must be stored at temporary racks outside, with paid storage options available if needed.
When leaving, use Easy Leave—a real-time platform accessible via QR code—to check crowd levels and transport options, helping you choose the best exit route.
3. Explore Dining, Fun, and Shopping Inside and Outside the Park
Beyond sports and performances, Kai Tak Sports Park offers plenty of leisure options. Inside, three retail pavilions feature sportswear brands, eateries, food courts, and supermarkets. The park’s art installations and nighttime lighting also make for great photo spots.
Nearby Kowloon City is packed with restaurants, so visitors can plan extra time to eat, explore, and shop both inside and outside the park.
