Chinese electric vehicle makers closed the year with robust deliveries in December, though BYD (1211) and Li Auto (2015) bucked the trend amid fierce competition in the market.
BYD’s December car shipments sank 18.3 percent year-on-year to 420,398 units. It sold a total of 4.6 million units of vehicles in 2025, in line with the annual target and up by 7.73 percent from 2024.
Li Auto’s deliveries plunged by 24.4 percent to 44,246 units in December, bringing the fourth quarter sales to 109,194, in line with its guidelines. The full-year sales, however, slumped by 18.8 percent to 406,343 and accounted for less than two-thirds of its target.
Great Wall Motor’s (2333) total sales volume also slid 8.33 percent to 124,020 units, though its 2025 shipment volume climbed by 7.3 percent to 1.3 million.
XPeng (9868) said it sold 37,508 cars last month, up by 2 percent from a year ago. Total annual deliveries in 2025 reached 429,445 units, representing a 126 percent increase over the prior year.
Xiaomi (1810) said it delivered more than 50,000 units of cars in December. Last year, the total delivery number was expected to hit more than 410,000.
The EV maker said the sales of its Xiaomi YU7 SUV exceeded 150,000 units in just six months of launch.
Nio’s (9866) sales hit a record of 48,135 last month, representing a 54.6 percent rise from a year ago. For 2025, total deliveries reached 326,028 vehicles, increasing by 46.9 percent.
Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology’s (9863) vehicle sales grew by 42 percent to 60,423 in December, and the annual sales more than doubled to 596,555.
Geely Automobile (0175) shipped a total of 236,817 units of vehicles in December, up by 13 percent from the previous year. For the whole year, the automaker delivered 3.02 million cars, 39 percent more than in 2024 and exceeded the annual sales target of 3 million.
Among them, shipments of the Zeekr-branded cars went up by 11 percent to 30,267 units in December, though the full-year figure only inched up to 224,133.
Geely has set a new sales target of 3.45 million for 2026, representing an approximate increase of 14 percent from last year.
