John Lee welcomes President Xi in Busan ahead of APEC summit

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu received President Xi Jinping on Thursday morning in Busan, where Xi is set to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and commence a state visit to South Korea.

As part of his itinerary in Busan, Lee met with Hong Kong residents and business representatives based in Korea this afternoon to discuss their daily lives and developments in the region.

During the meeting, Lee encouraged the community to leverage their strengths and tell good Hong Kong stories, contributing to economic and trade cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges between Hong Kong and South Korea.

Accompanied by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah, Lee will attend a dinner  this evening in Gyeongju with Hong Kong, China's representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council to exchange views on promoting the city's advantages and enhancing regional cooperation.

Looking ahead, the city leader will participate in the APEC Economic Leaders' Informal Dialogue with Guests, the APEC Business Advisory Council Dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders, and the Gala Dinner hosted by the organizers for participating leaders tomorrow (Oct 31).
