Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line, part of the Northern Link project, is expected to be topped out this year and completed by 2027, MTR announced.
Carl Devlin, MTR's capital works director, said construction of Kwu Tung Station is progressing well, with the station gradually taking shape.
He said at a press briefing on Wednesday that work on the concourse and platform slabs has been completed, while the ground-level slab is nearing completion.
Next, staircases and station entrances will be built, he added.
Installation of trackside equipment and the electrical system is underway for the
underground tunnel platform, along with the initial setup of glass curtain walls, which will later accommodate automatic platform screen doors.
The preparatory work for the Northern Link main line is proceeding as planned, with the project expected to be completed by 2034.
The approximately 10.7-kilometer main line will connect the existing East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line.
Between Kwu Tung Station and Kam Sheung Road Station, three intermediate stations will be added: San Tin, Ngau Tam Mei, and Au Tau.
Meanwhile, the Hung Shui Kiu Station on the Tuen Ma Line is slated for completion in 2030.
Devlin said ground investigation work will soon begin to prepare for the station's foundation.
As for the Tung Chung Line Extension, scheduled for completion in 2029, structural work on the platform and concourse levels of the eastern section has been finished, with top-level construction and trackside equipment installation now underway.
Tunnel construction for the western section is ongoing, with the tunnel toward Tung Chung West expected to be completed within the year.
