Export credit insurer breaks new ground

The Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation has launched its first innovative green export credit insurance to promote green exports by providing a premium discount to eligible companies.

In cooperation with Hang Seng Bank (0011), the HKECIC will offer a premium discount on export credit insurance to Leo Paper as it held relevant certificates.

The innovative insurance would provide Leo Paper with better export credit insurance protection and lower premium expenses, said the company.

The HKECIC said the discount will alleviate the relevant insurance expense for export trade to facilitate carbon reduction and other environmental goals. Hang Seng Bank regards the first green export credit insurance as groundbreaking.

Leo Paper mainly procures and uses raw materials certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and strives for low-carbon emissions in production, which has been certified by an independent external consultant SGS Hong Kong.
