Hibor rises as record-high silver bonds tighten market liquidity

Hong Kong interbank offered rates rallied on Monday, with overnight Hibor rising to a one-week high, as the record-high subscription amount for the latest batch of silver bonds tightened market liquidity. 

The overnight rate jumped 82 basis points to 3.05 percent, marking the largest growth since June 30.

The one-week and two-week Hibor climbed to 2.68 percent and 2.69 percent, respectively.

The one-month gauge, closely linked to mortgage rates, increased slightly to 2.85 percent.

Hong Kong's 11th tranche of silver bonds drew around 478,000 subscriptions, and total subscription value reached HK$119.8 billion, with both hitting an all-time high, the government said.
