Hang Seng Index edges down on Tuesday, Pop Mart surges 9pc

Hong Kong stocks were soft at the close on Tuesday, tracking a broad weakness in Asian stock markets. 

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dropped 76 points, or 0.3 percent, to 26,487 points. The market turnover was HK$237.8 billion. Shares of Labubu doll maker Pop Mart International (9992) jumped 9 percent following its first share buyback in two years.

The Hang Seng Tech Index dropped by 1.2 percent to 5,683 points. 

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was flat at 4,113 points and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index declined 1 percent to 14,155 points.
