Hong Kong stocks edge lower on last trading day of 2025

Hong Kong shares opened lower on the final trading day of 2025, tracking broad weakness in technology stocks.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.21 percent to 25,801, while the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 0.22 percent to 5,566.

Major internet names were mostly under pressure, with Tencent (0700) down 0.41 percent, Alibaba (9988) easing 0.55 percent and Meituan (3690) falling 0.57 percent. Baidu (9888) lost 0.77 percent, while JD.com (9618) and NetEase (9999) slid 1.32 percent and 1.26 percent, respectively. Xiaomi (1810) bucked the trend, rising 0.86 percent in early trade.
