Hong Kong shares rise at midday as tech stocks lead

Hong Kong shares rose at midday on Tuesday, led by gains in technology stocks, while mainland China markets were mixed.

The Hang Seng Index climbed 0.44 percent to 25,749 by the lunch break, with turnover reaching HK$96.5 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index outperformed, rising 1.04 percent, as 23 of its constituents advanced. Baidu (9888) was the top gainer, jumping 6.9 percent.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite slipped 0.1 percent, while the Shenzhen Component edged up 0.23 percent.
