Hong Kong Court has expanded its asset freeze on Ding Yumei, the ex-wife of China Evergrande founder Hui Ka-yan, adding US$220 million (HK$1.72 billion) in assets located in Canada, Gibraltar, Jersey, and Singapore.
Following the liquidation order against Evergrande in January last year, the liquidators sought US$6 billion from Hui, Ding and group's former chief executive Xia Haijun and three associative entities in the High Court.
The High Court first froze Ding’s assets last year, followed by a similar injunction issued by a British court.
