China on Tuesday released measures it said would boost service consumption, pledging to expand the opening up of sectors including internet and culture and encourage the hosting of international sports events.

The measures, jointly released by nine government bodies including the commerce ministry, called for the easing of restrictions to attract more foreign and private capital to fields such as mid- to high-end medical care.
They also pledged to encourage financial institutions to increase credit supply to businesses in the service consumption sector.
