Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment (0027) reported a 19 percent rise in first-half net profit, after one of its resorts saw a single-day visitor record of over 123,000 in June, boosted by concerts.
The net profit stood at HK$5.24 billion in the first six months, up 19.44 percent from a year earlier, while net revenue rose 8.3 percent to HK$23.25 billion.
The board declared a dividend of 70 HK cents, 40 percent higher than the same period last year.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 14 percent year-on-year to HK$6.9 billion.
Total gross gaming revenue grew 15 percent year-on-year to HK$22.9 billion.
Chairman Francis Lui Yiu-tung revealed Galaxy Macau made the single-day visitor record, driven by concerts featuring South Korean superstar G-Dragon and Hong Kong Cantopop legend Jacky Cheung Hok Yau at the Galaxy Arena.
Lui also highlighted upcoming events including the National Games’ table tennis tournament in November after comedian Jimmy O Yang’s stand-up show and Eason Chan Yick-shun’s Fear and Dreams concert in July and August.
He expressed optimism about Macau’s growing appeal as an entertainment and sports tourism destination.
