Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com (9618) is introducing its JD Logistics (2618) model to Saudi Arabia, according to mainland media.
The company has reportedly established a local team of over 1000 employees and opened multiple warehouses across the Middle East.
A source from JD Logistics told the mainland media: “No comment at this time, we will share further information promptly when available.”
The report said that in February, JD Logistics – together with mainland automotive enterprises Chery – built one of the largest automotive spare parts centers in Saudi Arabia, which stores tens of thousands of types of small automotive parts as well as large and complex components such as engines and transmissions. It covers a range of vehicles for five major car brands and provides services across the Middle East and North Africa.
In addition, JD Logistics has also reached a global integrated supply chain cooperation with a Chinese new energy vehicle brand, becoming its first logistics service provider for warehousing and distribution in the Middle East.
The report also quoted industry insiders as saying “multinational e-commerce platforms and middle-income enterprises should be important areas for JD Logistics to realize its overseas market ambitions.”
