Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday after an index of US-listed Chinese stocks largely shrugged off earlier losses.

The Hang Seng benchmark opened 190 points, or 0.8 percent, higher at 23,653 after a five-day losing streak that saw a cumulative drop of 907 points.
The China Enterprises Index rose 96 points, or 1.1 percent, to 8,737 at the open, while the Tech Index gained 78 points, or 1.4 percent, to 5,826.
Tech stocks broadly gained. Tencent (0700) rose 1.08 percent. Alibaba (9988) climbed 2.28 percent. Meituan (3690) gained 2.37 percent. JD.com (9618) advanced 2.73 percent. Xiaomi (1810) edged up 0.28 percent.
