The Hang Seng Index rallied back to the 20,000-point mark for the first time this year as investors cheered a possible cool-down on the Sino-US tension following a phone call between the Presidents of both countries.

The benchmark index jumped 457 points, or 2.33 percent, to 20,041 points as of midday.
The mainboard turnover was about HK$97.23 billion.
The Hang Seng Tech Index rose 3.2 percent to 4,621 points.
Among the blue chips, JD.com (9618) was the top gainer, whose shares went up 7.4 percent. CNOOC (0883) lost 2.2 percent to become the worst performer.
The Shanghai SE Composite Index inched up 0.5 percent to 3,257.24 points and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index increased by 1.3 percent to 1,940.85 points.
