From modest beginnings to becoming a leading International Baccalaureate World School, Canadian International School of Hong Kong is renowned for its academic innovation and its welcoming and supportive community. At CDNIS, athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities are balanced with academic rigour in the overall development of students. Never one to rest on its laurels, CDNIS prepares students for the future with exciting strategic programmes in progress.
Bilingual Early Years Programme
CDNIS has continuously adapted to stay ahead of the curve with its newly-launched Early Years Bilingual Programme, providing CDNIS students with a unique, dual-language, cross-cultural learning experience.
The Early Years Programme at CDNIS provides parents a choice between two dual-language programmes in which to enrol their child. Both the International and Bilingual tracks guide a child’s language and cultural fluency in a nurturing but rigorous learning environment. The Bilingual Programme immerses students with Mandarin for an entire day and then alternates to English for an entire day, while the International Programme offers an English curriculum with Mandarin offered 20% of the time. In each subsequent year, the programme will expand one more grade level up to grade 5 by 2028/2029.
University Counselling Programme
CDNIS students will start exploring university options and requirements earlier than in the past following the hiring of an experienced Director of University Counselling, Dr. Chantelle Jackson. Before joining CDNIS, Dr. Jackson served as an admissions and college counsellor for private independent schools and the University of California system, and has helped guide thousands of students to top universities during her 15-year career. Her team will focus on helping CDNIS students as early as grade 9 prepare to transition to top universities around the world, providing additional support to families targeting highly selective university programmes in the USA and UK.
Dual Diploma
CDNIS is the only school in Hong Kong where students can graduate with two distinct and highly recognized diplomas: the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP), and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The dual diplomas provide not only a balanced education for students, but also a seamless transition to post-secondary institutions in Canada and around the world.
The OSSD and IBDP programmes are highly complementary and CDNIS’ teachers ensure their classroom instruction covers all subject matter of the two curricula without doubling the student’s workload. Personalized timetables, an abundance of course options, and a caring, internationally-minded learning environment contribute to CDNIS students’ exceptional academic results and their acceptance into the world’s most selective and competitive post-secondary institutions.
