Targeting pupils who have not yet secured a discretionary place in the Primary One Admission (POA) System, the applications for Central Allocation will open on 30 and 31 January.
In view of Covid-19 restrictions, the Education Bureau (EDB) has sent the Choice of Schools Form to parents by mail for the first time. To reduce the gathering of people and maintain social distancing, EDB has also sent a letter requesting parents to make their choice of schools at a specific Central Allocation Centre in different time slots on the dates specified above.
The assigned time slots commence from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and 1:30pm to 4:30 pm on January 30, as well as 9:30 to 12:30 on January 31.
Central Allocation is composed of two parts: Part A is for unrestricted school choices, which allows parents to choose up to three government or aided primary schools in any school net; while Part B only allows parents to select schools from the ‘Choice of Schools List for Central Allocation’ of their school net. Parents should fill in the form in the order of their preference.
Ensuring fairness to all, the allocation process is run by a computer program, which will first follow parents’ choice in Part A and then school choices in Part B. For oversubscribed schools, the order of priority in allocating P1 places will be determined by random numbers generated by the computer for individual applications.
The results of Central Allocation will be sent to parents by post from June 2 to June 3.
