Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling announced the birth of her child today on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
The 47-year-old model, who has been married to Japanese husband Akira of the J-Pop group Exile for three years, announced the news on social media with a photo of the interlocked fingers of the family of three.
It came as a surprise as she did not reveal she was pregnant.
“Thank you for coming into our family,” Lin wrote. “Our little angel is finally here. In this new year, I hope to share my happiness with all my loved ones, and I would also like to thank all of you for all your support and well-wishes. Here’s to a happy, healthy new year filled with hope and love!”
Akira also posted on social media: “Thank you for coming into our family. Our futures will be bright as long as we hold on to hope! We wish all of you a happy new year and new beginnings with hearts full of love and gratitude!”
Though the couple has not revealed the gender of the child, Taiwanese media outlets have said that the child, which was speculated to have been delivered in America, is a boy.
