South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, announced on Tuesday (Apr 15) that they will take legal action in response to the dissemination of malicious comments and false information online.
The agency said the actor's reputation has been adversely affected by allegations regarding his relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron, and a legal statement was filed on April 14 asserting charges of defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act and insult in accordance with the Criminal Act.
Gold Medalist emphasized implementing stringent legal measures to safeguard the rights of Kim, affirming that individuals who propagate false information, engage in personal attacks, or participate in acts of sexual harassment will be held accountable.
In relation to the anonymous creation of fabricated content and instances of cyberbullying, the agency indicated that it would collaborate with international legal teams to address such matters decisively across platforms such as YouTube and X.
Despite refuting the allegations of dating the late actress when she was underage during a press conference on March 31, Kim Soo Hyun remained at the center of the controversy.
Earlier this month, the actor's agency announced it had filed a lawsuit against the late actress's relatives and Kim Se Eui, the host of the YouTube channel Garosero Research for 11 billion won (around HK$6.5 million) compensation.
