A 51-year-old migrant worker from China has died from complications due the coronavirus, becoming Singapore's 24th fatality from the disease.
The man, Case 17329, is the youngest so far to die from the novel coronavirus here. He tested positive for the virus on May 1, Channel News Asia reports.
He had been diagnosed with lymphoma complicated by multi-organ failure when he was in the intensive care unit in end-April, said the Ministry of Health on Monday.
"Despite being treated for lymphoma, his condition had deteriorated and he subsequently passed on," the ministry said. "The National University Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them."
According to the Ministry of Manpower, the man started working in Singapore in 2001. He was a foreman under his current employer for close to a year.
Singapore reported 408 new virus infections as of noon on Monday, with no new cases in the community.
It is the first time in more than three months that no new community case has been reported in MOH's daily updates.
All of Monday's cases are work pass holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, and the new cases are linked to known clusters.
Singapore's tally of virus patients now stands at 35,292. -Chart: CNA
