China must push forward 'reunification' with Taiwan, senior official says

China must grasp the right to dominate and take the initiative in relations across the Taiwan Strait, and unswervingly push forward the cause of "reunification" with Taiwan, state media on Wednesday cited a senior official as saying.

Wang Huning, the ruling Communist Party's fourth-ranked leader, made the comments at an annual work conference on Taiwan this month, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.

Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's sovereignty claims.
