All business units have been informed of the evaluation, mainland media Jiemian News reported, citing sources.
Core e-commerce divisions, including Taobao and Tmall, are being encouraged to adopt more AI technology.
All teams are working closely with engineers of Alibaba’s AI product Qwen to develop features that will improve efficiency and user experience.
The company is also working on a series of AI-native apps, some of which could be launched this year, according to the report.
Alibaba believes a killer app that is built on mature AI technology and would be even more popular than Douyin – TikTok’s Chinese version – could be coming soon, Jiemian reported, citing a source.
Alibaba chief executive Eddie Wu Yongming proposed to apply AI to all existing businesses.
