Hubei province reported eight new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease on Wednesday, local health commission said Thursday, Xinhua reports.
All of the new confirmed cases were reported in Wuhan, the provincial capital and epicenter of the outbreak.
Wuhan also reported 49,986 are infected and 2,430 have died as of Wednesday, according to the commission.
On Wednesday, Hubei reported 10 deaths, seven of which were in Wuhan.
Xinhua did not report the total deatsh so far.
The latest report brought the total confirmed cases in the hard-hit province to 67,781.
As of Wednesday, Hubei had seen no new confirmed cases for seven consecutive days in its 16 cities and prefectures outside Wuhan.
The province also saw 1,242 patients discharged from hospital after recovery on Wednesday, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 50,298.
Among the 12,769 hospitalized patients, 3,453 were still in severe condition and another 727 in critical condition.
The commission also said Hubei had 158 suspected cases.
President Xi Jinping waves to residents who are quarantined at home in Wuhan, on March 10, during a visit to the central provincial city, where the new coronavirus emerged in December.
