Magnitude 5.9 earthquake strikes off Mindanao, Philippines

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck near Mindanao in the southern Philippines at 11.35pm local time on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

The epicenter was located in the Mindanao region at a depth of about 54 kilometres, classified as an intermediate-depth earthquake. Shaking was felt across multiple areas, indicating significant energy release. No major damage or casualties have been reported so far.
