Yemen, an impoverished country reeling from a devastating war, confirmed its first coronavirus infection in a southern province under the control of the government, the supreme national emergency committee said.
The patient, now stable, was reported from Hadramout province, the committee run by Yemeni the government tweeted.
A two-week ceasefire declared by the Saudi-UAE coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi rebels came into effect on Thursday. Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis toppled the government from power in Sanaa in late 2014, Al Jazeera reports.
