Support for Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's cabinet stood at 63.1 percent, a Kyodo News nationwide telephone survey showed, down 4.4 percentage points from the previous poll in December.
The disapproval rate was 25.0 percent. Regarding her decision to dissolve the House of Representatives, 44.0 percent of respondents approved while 47.3 percent were opposed, the survey conducted after the lower house dissolution announcement revealed.
In proportional representation voting intentions, the Liberal Democratic Party led with 29.2 percent support. The new opposition coalition party "Centrist Reform Union", formed by the Constitutional Democratic Party and Komeito, followed with 11.9 percent.
In single-seat constituencies, 40.0 percent said they would support ruling coalition candidates, 22.8 percent backed opposition candidates, and 34.9 percent were undecided.
Rising prices topped voter concerns at 59.3 percent, followed by pensions and social security (26.8 percent), economy and employment (19.3 percent), and diplomacy and security (18.7 percent). Meanwhile, 67.0 percent said they held "no expectations" for the Centrist Reform Union, versus 28.2 percent who did.
