Benefitting from a network of over 135 German Schools Abroad, German Swiss International School (GSIS) is a leading dual-language institution in Hong Kong that has offered through-train education from Kindergarten to Secondary since 1969. Delivering a unique multicultural experience, GSIS is steadfast in pursuing its educational goals and continually evolving to meet the changing needs of 21st century learners. With two successful streams, both curriculums present globally recognised diplomas - the German International Stream (GIS) with the German International Abitur Diploma (DIA) and the English International Stream (EIS) with the IGCSE / International Baccalaureate (IB).
GERMAN INTERNATIONAL STREAM (GIS) & DIA DIPLOMA
Open to all nationalities, the core of the German International Stream is delivering a culturally rich bilingual education through a well-rounded curriculum of languages, sciences, mathematics, and arts. Graduates receive the German International Abitur Diploma (DIA) which is accepted at prestigious universities all over the world and is seen as an advantage over other common school qualifications. Those who choose to continue their academic career in Germany, an economic powerhouse, are given an education resident visa and tuition is offered gratuitously by the German government.
GIS KINDERGARTEN
The German approach promotes a holistic, child-centred journey where each child is unique and understands at their own pace. With an emphasis on learning through play, children ages 3-5 years old are taught through rhymes, songs, movement and colourful games in German and English.
GIS PRIMARY - CLIPPY PROGRAMME
The Cultural and Language Integration Programme in Primary Years (CLIPPY) presents an immersive German language curriculum for children 6-8 years old. It supports children with no prior knowledge of German with personalised language lessons and fully integrate them into a nurturing community. It delivers an outstanding education that transforms lives, as well as minds, and develops critical thinking.
GIS SECONDARY - FAST TRACK PROGRAMME
For older children ages 11-12 years old, the Fast Track programme is an accelerated German-learning experience designed for Secondary international students where German language courses are integrated into the interdisciplinary curriculum, alongside German speaking students. They are cultivated into a language-rich learning environment and become inquisitive, open minded, and independent thinkers.
