Test experts head home - to quarantineCentral Station | 17 Sep 2020
Mainland mass testing experts will be able to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with their families as they left Hong Kong yesterday.
The team of 579 mainland experts bid farewell to the SAR after successfully conducting 1.78 million tests.
Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erik Tsang Kwok-wai and director of test company Sunrise Diagnostic Centre Anthony Wu Ting-yuk visited Metropark Hotel Kowloon, where the team was staying, to thank them in person for their efforts over the past two weeks.
Tsang said: "The team has made a significant contribution and sacrifice for Hong Kong. They had a tough task.
"After they return to the mainland, they will have to quarantine for 14 days before they can go home."
But he said "it's a relief" that they will be able to make it home before Mid-Autumn Festival on October 1 - a traditional Chinese festival usually spent with family and friends.
