China's tech titans are embracing the mainland's latest artificial intelligence-powered chatbot with Tencent Cloud incorporating the DeepSeek app into its services.
The cloud computing service from internet giant Tencent (0700) said the DeepSeek-R1 model can be deployed on its hyper application inventor or HAI in three minutes flat.
This will let developers skip complex setup steps such as hardware installation and model downloads and offer easy access to DeepSeek-R1 in just two steps.
Huawei Cloud had earlier announced the launch of DeepSeek-R1 and V3 services in collaboration with SiliconFlow.
The service delivers performance on par with high-end global GPU deployments, ensuring stability for large commercial applications.
SiliconFlow, founded in 2023 by former OneFlow chief executive Yuan Jinhui, has drawn global attention with its artificial intelligence innovations.
The release of DeepSeek's AI chatbot has rocked the technology industry in the past week as the app is said to be on a par or better than industry-leading models in the United States at a fraction of the cost and is threatening to disrupt the technology world order.
The company attracted attention in global AI circles after publishing a paper last month that the training of DeepSeek-V3 required less than US$6 million (HK$46.8 million) worth of computing power from Nvidia H800 chips. DeepSeek's AI assistant, powered by DeepSeek-V3, has overtaken rival ChatGPT to become the top-rated free application available on Apple's App Store in the US.
This has raised doubts about the reasoning behind some US tech companies' decisions to pledge billions of dollars in AI investment and shares of several big tech players, including Nvidia, have been impacted.
