Social distancing measures such as working from home have dealt yet another blow to businesses in the catering sector.
But one coffee startup promptly changed its strategy by encouraging office workers to brew their own coffee at home.
ECup, a startup founded by University of Hong Kong graduates Matthew Ho Cheuk-yiu and Warren Lee Men-wah, shared its experience in adjusting to the new normal on a Facebook livestream session yesterday.
Launched in 2018, the coffee mobile ordering app allows users to save time by ordering their beverage before arriving in store.
But as the pandemic worsened, its business was affected as most office workers switched to working from home and no longer purchased their morning brew from coffee shops.
To keep up with the times, the app has introduced its latest Brew From Home service - a coffee kit which includes tools and coffee beans for brewing coffee at home.
