China Mobile could face US fines for failing to respond adequately in probe

The US Federal Communications Commission said China Mobile (0941) may face penalties after failing to adequately respond to key questions during an ongoing investigation into whether the company attempted to circumvent US restrictions.

According to a subpoena issued by the FCC, the agency has been examining China Mobile's operations in the United States since November 2022. In February, the FCC sent the company a follow-up letter seeking additional information.

The FCC urged the world's biggest wireless carrier by users to reply within 30 days.
